POSITION SUMMARY:
Rigel Pharmaceuticals, a pioneering biopharma company based in South San Francisco, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Manager/Associate Director to join the Commercial Analytics team, part of Business Operations. The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to Rigel’s commercial success and to grow with the company as we continue our growth trajectory.
This is a critical role in Commercial Analytics, responsible for driving sales and marketing analytics, delivering structured and ad-hoc analysis to sales, marketing, and home office teams. This position is integral to support our commercial organization by delivering actionable analytics, strategic insights, and innovative solutions to address critical business challenges. This position requires strong business acumen, analytical skills, critical thinking, communication and presentation skills.
Salary range:
- National range $115,000 to $145,000
- Premium (CA, NY only) $127,500 to $150,000
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Independently execute and lead analytic initiatives and projects. Conduct secondary data analytics using multitude of data sources such as healthcare prescriber/provider, account-level data, sub-national script data, specialty pharmacy data, claims data, promotional data etc.
- Provide analytical support to the brand and sales teams including conducting structured and ad-hoc analysis, creating dashboards and reports, and providing insights that enable decision-making for the commercial organization.
- Act as the primary analytics partner for brand and sales leaders and field regional marketers /sales directors, providing them with accurate and actionable insights to track performance against key marketing and sales strategies and tactics.
- Routinely monitor, assess, and validate performance metrics. Identify trends, uncover opportunities/gaps, synthesize findings and share using the right data visualization tools.
- Design and implement data models and create meaningful data visualizations to report and communicate insights to support brand and sales performance monitoring.
- Deliver data-driven recommendations that enable the marketing and sales team to maximize performance and meet commercial objectives. Communicate insights into clear, business-friendly narratives.
- Partner closely with Marketers, Area/Regional Sales leaders to address their sales analytics needs, solve strategic questions and enhance overall engagement between field and home office teams.
- Collaborate effectively with other members of the Business Operations team and external vendors on data curation, data operations, and data reporting to enable effective execution of analytics.
- Facilitate periodic nation/area and regional sales review meetings and support Field Sales leadership coaching. Gather insights to inform Field Sales business planning and execution and provide analytics support for critical sales meetings, including National Field Meetings (NFM) and Plan of Action (POA) meetings.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree a plus.
- 5-8 years of analytics experience
- Preferred: Experience within pharma/biotech/health care industries and familiarity with Pharma data and/or related experience in advanced analytics/data sciences in leading industries (Technology, CPG, Financial)
SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience developing and executing analytic solutions to address key business questions with measurable outcomes and insights.
- Possess strong critical thinking, intellectual curiosity, problem solving and analytical skills with the ability to maintain a high level of data accuracy.
- Solid experience with utilizing analytical software/tools (e.g. SQL, Python, R, Tableau, Power BI, Quickbase, VBA scripting, etc.). Requires MS Office proficiency including Excel analytical techniques and PowerPoint presentation construction.
- Strong written/oral communications skills including communicating to all levels of the organization.
- Proven success in managing and partnering with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Solid organizational, project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
- Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships with key stakeholders, becoming a trusted partner and advisor.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment and matrix structure with multiple stakeholders.
